i Heart Fiesta

Zipping around with Margarita today, I began to think of why everyone should RSVP to the FIESTA next year...

1. Because polka dots are in this season.
2. It's a party on the road!
3. You can have your boot up and your bonnet open.
4. As if we weren't celebrities before, now everyone is lookin ;)
5. If they sell every car with its own agent like MC Rinke, we're in!
6. Explaining it to cute guys/girls is totally worth it...yeah, that's right, the Fiesta can get you play :P
7. 38.5 mpg while gas is north of $2.50/gallon!
8. Driving by a playground and totally making the little kids' lives because they saw the most awesome car ever (OK, Dorothy does not appreciate this one as much).
9. Every successful gear shift is a small victory in life.
10. Because despite bringing home good grades, awards, and a Bachelor's Degree, your parents will inevitably be more impressed that you drove a stick shift in Memorial Day traffic without dying.

Do you think Ford will dumb-down the Fiesta for US consumption? I mean, the Titanium trim + gadgets (power button, Bluetooth, Voice commands, parking sensors, auto wipers, power mirrors, etc.) is worth about $4000?
Do you like the current looks of the car or are you looking forward to the 3-bar grille that the US Fiesta will get, like all other Fords?
Would you rather have a sedan instead of a hatchback?

Everything in the car is European: temperatures in Celcius, the radio goes in 9kHz increments on the AM band (instead of 10) -- has it occurred to you that the gas gauge may be in Imperial (UK) gallons, which is 1.2 times US gallons?
If that's the case, your milage is 1.2 times worse!
How's driving stick coming along? Would you continue to drive stick in your next car? Would you buy a Fiesta in 2010?

Just some questions that are running through my head ...

Continue to enjoy your car, then I will continue to envy you!

I'm interested in purchasing one of these when they come out next year - I don't want a base model - I want one with some of the options, but don't know that I'd add everything. Probably would get a sedan model, but want to see both before I decide.

I do like the current style, but might be ok with them making modifications to it too. Guess we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.

Also - probably would opt for an automatic rather than stick - while I have driven standard, and it is more fun - if I want my fiance or someone else to drive the car for me, they don't know how... also - for in town driving, I prefer automatic generally speaking. I drove my one car to work every day, and hated waiting in traffic and shifting up and down...

-->I don't believe there will be any "dumbing down" of the Fiesta. Ford wants this to be a sub-compact car but a fashionable one that appeals to people who like to stay connected to their world even in a car and have convenient perks that go along with it. I will say, the push button start is just pretty cool to have. The ultimate cost of the car will be very competitive with offerings from Toyota, GM, etc.

-->I think the car looks much better than any of the alternatives currently on the market when it comes to subcompact cars. It has a sleek design and you honestly don't feel like you drive around town - you zip around town haha. As for any modifications to the final U.S. version, blame your regulators not Ford for what will be required. I'm not sure what a "3 bar grille" is, as I am not a mechanical person but since Ford is sinking a lot of effort into this, they aren't going to muck it up with anything that could negatively impact sales.

-->I have grown to love the hatchback, mainly because when I open a trunk I have a fear a strong wind will come around and cut me in half. Irrational? Sure, but we're all entitled to our weird preferences and fears.

I filled the Fiesta's ten gallon tank and drove just over 350 miles before needing to refuel. If my 2000 Grand Prix cracks 20mpg's it's a good day so I'm happy with it.

How's driving stick coming along?
Excellent. Love it better than automatic.

Would you continue to drive stick in your next car? Would you buy a Fiesta in 2010?
Yes and ABSOLUTELY.

Well, thanks for your honest answers!

the 3-bar grille is just what it is: a bigger chrome grille with the Ford logo in it, instead of your smaller slit with the blue oval. Should be something like this:

So nothing technical, just cosmetic.
(hmmm link not working, Google for "verve sedan")

I guess you can get a lot more stuff in a hatchback than a sedan. Just think of it as a mini SUV (technically SUV's, MPV's and wagons are all hatchbacks!)

I checked the British Fiesta site and saw one of the options is an ILLUMINATED gear knob! How cool is that!? Have you driven stick before?

Do you think the new Ford Ka should come stateside aswell? (same snout)

Enjoy your little big car!
